Defibrillators benefit patients who experience a sudden heartbeat (arrhythmia). In these cases, defibrillators are an important tool for anyone who is near a victim suffering from a ventricular arrhythmia. The arrhythmia causes the patient to lose consciousness. The expected outcome of such an arrhythmia is either cardiac arrest or stroke.

Data acquisition and analysis

The ARIO® Xpress is no longer automatically set to a specific frequency response. There are two diagnostic frequency options: 0.05-150 Hz
Diagnostic frequency filter and 0.05-40 Hz filtered diagnostic
Frequency filter. See Chapter 7 to switch between these two options.

Waveform Details

The tables below detail the waveforms that the ARIO® Xpress delivers when connected to resistive loads of 25, 50, and 100 ohms and set to its maximum output power.
The waveforms are identified by the peak current (Ip) values DEFI XPRESS for two-phase operation: Duration of the first output phase (tphase1) and Duration of the second output phase (tphase2).
The specified values are within 10%.
Waveform: Truncated exponential curve Biphasic

Alarms
  • Heart Rate SpO2 Alarm:
    • Audible:
      • 5-pulse 800 tone with a PW of 150 msec, a PRI of 225 msec, and a repeat interval of 10 seconds.
    • Visual:
      • The heart rate alarm flashes the displayed heart rate at 2 Hz. This indicator is located at the top of the display and is 0.4″ high and 0.28 to 0.840″ wide, depending on the number of digits in the heart rate.
      • It is amber, black, white, or the color of the display text.
Line Fault Alarm

Audible: triplet tone with 3 pulses and 500 Hz with a PW of 200 msec and a PRI of 310 msec. If the HR alarm is set or the pacemaker is turned on, the line fault tone repeats at a 20 second repetition interval.
Visual: When a line fault occurs, the message “LEAD FAULT” is displayed on the trace along with a dashed line the width of the trace. The text is 0.18″ high and is the color of the display text. The dashed line is 5″ long and has the width of the display. The signal is not modulated.

Physiological alarms (Spo2) (Options)
  • Audible: See heart rate alarm
